Hydrostatic profile gauge

The hose-based settlement sensor is a portable instrument for measuring settlement and ground heave. A plastic hose (a PEM-type hose for drinking water) is laid or bored into the soil where the measurement is to be conducted. Then, the system’s liquid-filled hose is inserted into the pipe, after which a pressure gauge registers the level of the hose.

The readings are then transferred to and saved in a sturdily designed field palm computer. By comparing the current readings with the first readings (takes place automatically) an illustrative and exact picture of the ground settlement and/or heave is obtained.

Other advantages:

  • Simple and reliable, easy to calibrate
  • Gives a complete profile of the vertical displacements
  • The readings are continuously saved in the portable palm computer for transmission and processing.
